Ask us a questionYes. New build mortar smear is one of the most common jobs we do. We use the right acid concentration and dwell time for the brick type, followed by a thorough rinse. Done properly it leaves the brickwork clean without staining or damage.
It can if done badly. Too much pressure strips mortar joints and erodes soft brick faces. We use controlled pressure matched to the brick type. On older or softer brick we use chemical cleaning and low-pressure rinsing instead.
That is usually efflorescence - mineral salts drawn to the surface by moisture. We treat the surface to remove visible deposits. If there is an underlying damp issue, the staining may return until the moisture source is addressed.
Yes. We have experience cleaning Victorian, Edwardian and listed buildings using methods approved for heritage masonry. We never use aggressive chemicals or excessive pressure on period brickwork.
